This is just wonderful, what a moment of HUGE relief!

I'm looking at the celebrations on the TV and, ohhh,it's just great we didn't even have to wait very long to know!

Sorry for not having a nice picture or some bunting to celebrate, the words have to be enough.

(Off to bed now)

I can't tell you how my spirits bounced right up to the ceiling after I'd spent the last five hours jittering in front of the computer. And it's not just Obama's re-election -- the country came through with some surprising and wonderful results, including legalizing gay marriage in two states.

Love your icon. :-)

Sitting here in UK and not really following the news, I had missed that there was more at stake then the Presidential Elections.

It's so good to learn about all these other victories (for women, gay, disabled, racial minorities, democrats-in-conservative-stronghold and what not more). It feels like the start of a swing away from this extreme conservatism that appeared to have the country in its grip, past decade.

Could it even be that that very Teaparty movement and these other extremely religious fanatics (with all their foolish remarks), scary as it was, shook people up, leading to a very reverse effect of what they had hoped to achieve??? (But that's speculative, of course).

And I can imagine, if it matters to us here in Europe, how you in US would have been so very apprehensive yesterday!

Well, it's not as dramatic as it looks: I saw the first results (mostly for Romney), then fell asleep on the sofa, in front of the TV and woke up just before 'Florida' was announced and victory for President Obama. :-)

On hindsight, in my sleepiness putting up this post, I wonder if it were tasteful enough...after all there are losers too (but it appears not many in our little corner of LJ)

but it appears not many in our little corner of LJ *LOL* understatement of the year :-)

I had a very good friend in NC back in 88 though, who voted Republican - so this was a rather big issue, we could not agree on, but she was a very good friend anyway....
